Program SLOG® is an updated software package from the 1980’s FORTRAN SLOG® for the design of footings on expansive soil. The software is for the analysis of the soil structure interaction of footing on reactive (or expansive) soils.
SLOG® is a residential slab and footing design program for Professional Engineers who want a fast, easy and convenient method of analysis of the soil structure interaction of footing on reactive (or expansive) soils.
The original SLOG® program was developed by Dr Peter Mitchell in the 1980’s and now has been converted into the updated computer language VBA for Excel by Sam Mitchell for modern use.
SLOG® is used for analysing residential stiffened rafts, strip footings and waffle rafts in accordance with the AS 2870-2011 “Residential slabs and footings” design procedure by engineering principles. The analysis uses the ‘Mitchell Method’ as stated in Section 4 and Appendix F of AS 2870-2011.
The computer program SLOG® is for the analysis of the soil structure interaction of footing on reactive (or expansive) soils.
An example of how to use SLOG® to design a house footing is available on the Example page.
